Q. My husband works long hours and doesnÌt have time for hobbies or sports. He likes to relax on weekends. Any good ideas for a FatherÌs Day gift heÌll use and enjoy?

A. Take him out for a surprise dinner at one of ManchesterÌs fine restaurants. If he enjoys a fun time, Moose Crossing has live music and Garlic JohnÌs Italian cuisine offers a delicious and varied selection of pastas, seafood, veal, beef, and other favorites. For true Mexican flair, thereÌs CandeleroÌs , or try the Perfect Wife where youÌll find creative menu items and fine cooking. The Lilac Caf» is a small and quaint new restaurant offering a variety of favorites and nightly specials too.

Q. My father lives quite a distance away. What can I send him that IÌm sure will fit?

A. The Shipping Center offers a great selection of food gift baskets in several themes that are fun to open and delightful to eat. Send your dad a Country Breakfast, Cheese and Sausage, or a Green Mountain Sweet Tooth basket. You can even pick out your own treats and design your own basket. And, as their name says, theyÌll pack and ship it for you, too! If your dad enjoys reading, a visit to the Northshire Bookstore will spark ideas for books by his favorite author or genre.

Q. My dad loves gardening. Any ideas for something creative for my green-thumb dad?

A. A visit to The Museum Shop at the Southern Vermont Arts Center should give you a bevy of novel ideas. TheyÌve got a new collection of functional as well as decorative items for the gardenÛeverything from sun dials and planters to garden accents, books, and figurines. If youÌre thinking of garden tools, youÌll find it all at r.k. Miles.

Q. What do I buy as a wedding gift for a bride and groom whom IÌve never met?

A. If youÌre looking for a special find and something out of the ordinary, visit Decorative Interiors where the owners bring back true treasures from Europe. For fine bed linens, Yves Delorme~Palais Royal has a selection of both traditional and contemporary designs. The new Kitchen Store at J.K. Adams has functional as well as decorative kitchenware and tableware. The Scandinavian Country Shop has a wonderful selection of fine tableware items that make ideal wedding gifts. great variety of collectible dolls and bears and a myriad of great ideas for something extra special. Stop in; youÌre sure to find something unique at each of these shops.

Q. My family is coming up this summer for a family reunion. IÌd love to have one of those family photographs where everyone is wearing the same shirt. Do you have any ideas where to start?

A. Right here in Manchester thereÌs a great source for shirts and embroidery. High Altitude is right on Main Street across from the new 4940 Main Street restaurant. They can design a special logo for your event and embroider it on shirts. If your family is coming up this winter, High Altitude can embroider on polar fleece too. Stop by to see the selection of colors and load up on ideas your family will love.

Q. Help! WeÌve bought a second home in Vermont and would love locally made furniture so delivery is easy. Where do you suggest we look for quality and true craftsmanship?

A. Vermont Made Furniture is the answer to your furniture prayers! If youÌre yearning for a stained-glass chandelier or window, visit Johnny Hinrichs in Sunderland. His craftsmanship is outstanding and he can design a piece to match your individual decor.

Q. My dad has decided itÌs time to get fit and stay fit. Where can I find some good gear heÌll find easy and pleasureable to use?
