As we go to press with this issue, the unimaginable events of September 11th are foremost on our minds. As Americans, we have proven the true meaning of the word united in the United States of America. The very fiber of every one of us has been deeply affected, and without hesitation, everyone weÌve spoken with is being supportive and patriotic.
Many are in mourning; others are coping and trying to put their lives back in orderÒinto what is a new meaning of the word "normal." Our small community in southern Vermont mourns for the lost lives of many families that must go on. Our towns are lined with flags, joined in prayer services, and stand united as a demonstration of our patriotism. We pray for a quick and just resolution.
When I photographed this cover, I looked through the lens in a way that was new to me and noticed details in the background that I probably was to busy to notice before. The sky was especially beautiful and I was more thankful than ever for our beautiful countryside.
With the colorful foliage season upon us, many visitors come to Vermont for a peaceful escape from their busy days. The weather has been spectacular with warm sunny days and cool crisp nights. We welcome everyone to the peace and gentility of our region.
Our cover this month features a wonderful four-poster bed from Vermont Made Furniture accented with beautiful bedding from Yves Delorme~Palais Royal. Living in southern Vermont, weÌre spoiled by the beauty of the Green Mountains; it subtly comforts us and helps us relax. CanÌt you just imagine having this view as you awake each morning?
