Creative thought… What do you get when you combine Versace in the beautiful mountains of Vermont with a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a good-looking guy? One hot shot! This month we’ve featured Versace and it was fun creating this cover.

We would like to thank Harry Claytor, owner of Tilting at Windmills art gallery for allowing us to include his Harley in our shot. That’s a great looking machine!

September is a month of transition. Even though it’s hard to accept that our summer fun has ended and it’s time to settle down and focus on back-to-school, I know some of us welcome the change of pace. Recently I’ve seen spots of color on some trees and I’ve heard we should be expecting a brilliant foliage this year.

If you’re in search of school clothes, Manchester has several stores that offer kid’s clothes at very affordable prices.

As you read through our pages, I think you’ll be amazed at the diversity of stores that Manchester and our neighboring towns have to offer. We’re so much more than a town with outlet brands. We have several wonderful art galleries, Vermont furniture designers, fine artisans, furniture and specialty stores, clothing boutiques, creative jewelry shops, and even a custom lighting shop. Look at the map on page 4 and read through the list of retailers in Manchester. Then look at our Neighboring Towns section. You’ll surely be impressed with the quality of shopping. Come shop for your favorite brand and I bet you’ll find unique treasures too.

And it’s not too early to begin your holiday gift shopping. It seems that since our lives have become more hectic—24/7—we need to organize our time so the impact of the holiday season doesn’t hit us between the eyes. Take some time and plan a weekend getaway with your loved one or friends during foliage season or even in November when it’s quiet here. You’ll be able to accomplish two things at once—gift buying and spending quality time with the people you care about.

Congratulations to Parris Hill Farm in Pawlet. They’ve got the "Blues"… ribbons, that is! The Alpacas at Parris Hill Farm have been busy this past year collecting winning awards at a string of competitions. Visit the "Show Stoppers" and the AlpacArt Studio—a great trip on an autumn day.

Michael Rodriguez Hairdressing Studio hosted a Welcome Night benefit for Hospice raising over $1,200. Many people stopped by to share in the delicious foods donated by Al Ducci’s, Rachel’s Gourmet Foods, Someday Farm, Mika’s, Chantecleer and dessert samplers from Doon’s Scottish Shortbreads. West Wind Fine Art brought the beautiful "Daffodils" oil painting by Richard Schmid to be auctioned off at The Manchester Invitational Exhibition.
